Hey guys,
Which one do you think sounds better?
All the biggest brands have jumped on the micro-drums wagon, but which one is the best?
Pearl Midtown
Tama Silverstar Metrojam
Gretsch Catalina Street
Sonor Safari
Ludwig Breakbeats

I'm very partial to my Midtown. We have the Tama at work and it's nice but doesn't quite sound as good. The Sonar comes in a close second. I haven't played the new Gretsch but loved my Catalina Club Jazz kit although the hardware was pretty crappy on it.

I only have firsthand experience with the Breakbeats, Club Street and Midtowns. I say Midtowns all the way!
No experience with the rest but my Breakbeats are my go to kit for all of our restaurant, wedding and low volume gigs. Great compliment of Evans heads, the 16" EMAD, and my 13x6 Supralite Snare, and lightweight Ludwig Atlas hardware is two years going strong.
Hi,
I think Midtown is best as well. Sonor is second.
When I played the Ludwig kit, it felt very cheap. The Tama is an interesting concept, but poor choices (e.g. no bottom heads and 6" deep kick drum) comprise the sound and playability quite a bit.
The Gretch split bass drum is innovative, but doesn't help the sound and 2" less kick drum isn't going to make much difference even on the smallest stage (since stands and cymbals stick out farther anyway).
