Joking aside i'm with you, I much prefer the way ludwig does their wrapped hoops, black with the slot (as slingerland, Gretsch, DW, and most others have also done with wrapped BD hoops). Much more appealing and 'finished' than the raw wood with a piece of wrap stuck on it.
More drums than you can shake a stick at...

The finished hoops only start at the Masters Maple Reserve series.... the MM Complete has unfinished hoops aswel.

I used to have a lacquered Export and those hoops where finished back in the day

The Exports of yesteryear was so much better value. They had much nicer, and so many more, beautiful lacquer finishes, hardware colour options, fully finished kick hoops, and just all-round nicer kits. I guess Pearl decreased the options and features as they were probably hurting sales of the next tier up kits, and likewise they rolled back features of each line to much people to want to buy the more flag-ship status kits like Ref and Ref Pure. I understand it from a business point of view, still seems like a dumb move to me though.

Makes me wonder though- are exports still the #1 selling kit in the world? Does anyone actually buy NEW drums anymore?

Made some adjustments on my set-up. Although it looks cool 4 toms up front over the 2 kicks it is a pain in the xxx to play like that. Main hihat too far aside and tired of the pain in my groin after playing like this for more than 2 hours.

Raised the 8" up and moved the hihat closer. The plan over time is to add another 8" next to the excisting one. When i get my hands on another 8" i'll probably mount them both on a TTop because using Pearl's original tom arms would take up too much space and wont fit them nice close next each other over the hats.

In the past there were only 3 RT's (first pic is from about 4-5 years ago). 8-10-12 were the original RT's. But then i added the 18" floor and moved the 14" floor to the left so i'd have to go from a 12 RT to a 16 FT and that gap was too big for me. So i added the 13 RT.

And no i dont want to move the 18 ft to the left and use the 14 & 16 ft's on the right

I'm aiming for a Aquiles priester's inspired set up (not a copy !) with the 2 8 rt's above the hihats. (2e pic)

Well, i finally did something about those unfinished bassdrum hoops. They were bothering me for many years and now idid something about it.

I painted them. I carefully taped off the outside & backside and i have painted them with 2 layers of "wine-red" (RAL 3005) and 1 last layer of clear coat !

    I like the result

Tell me what you guys think
