    Default Drumming shoes anyone???

So what do you guys wear on your feet while drumming, whether bare feet, socks only or a certain shoe type, do tell.

Personally, I wear leather dancing shoes, with a slippery carpet soles, for nice pedal work. (ala Peart - cause i can't afford UrbanBoards) an I swear by them, and I don't feel comfortable wearing anything else.

I have taken a liking to Asics wrestling shoes. Super light and just feel good. Been using them for about 10 years now.

I play in socks right now and have for as long as I've been playing. At shows, I walk up to the stage, sit down and kick shoes off to play. I've been considering looking into using a lighter shoe, possibly even some toe-shoes... but we'll see.

I've played in trainers (sneakers) or varying types, shoes (as in like formal shoes), boots (as in biker), socks, and barefoot. And for me, the latter two take it. At home I'd generally play barefoot as most of the time I'd be barefoot anyway, and at gigs and/or practice I'd be like Gord and just kick my footwear off and play in socks.

Full-shank, rigid-soled climbing boots. You aren't drumming until your ankle is immobilized.

I generally think I'm able to play to about the same level in any shoe I own (lots of trial and error) but I prefer something that's not too too slick as I use a Perfect Balance pedal which has zero grip/texture on the footboard. While I do slide a fair amount, something like a leather dress shoe just gets to be too much. And I really don't like playing very much without shoes on.
I've been very intrigued by the Vratim drumming shoes that have been going around, as they don't look half bad either...

I prefer to play in socks. If I had to wear shoes, I would go with a low-top version of LD's idea. Martial arts shoes are very similar to wrestling shoes, but without the ankle restriction. I really like the laceless version.

Nice Matt! I will have to check those out. I don't mind the high tops but prefer low tops.

When a particular pair of laceless Adidas taekwondo shoes went on sale, I bought 6 pairs. I used to use them several times per week.
