You might change your mind if you haven't heard 4 ply birch shells with 4 ply birch rings. They sound superb!

Those and the 4 ply maple are some of Pearls best work.

I've been checking these out and they seem to be a steal of a kit.
Of course nobody really talks much about them because the brand i.d. falls into that sort of vanilla category.

I got mine headed and tuned to the point where I really like the way they sound. It took me a bit to get there but once I did I was happy with the results. I think people shy away from them because of the unusually low price, believe it or not.
