Default Masterworks in Scarlet Sparkle Burst with Halo Flakes

*** NOTE: Since starting this thread, I re-did the rack in a stealth set up. The hardware list has been updated to reflect what is used in that set up. To see the updated pictures, CLICK HERE or go to page 9. ***

My drumming story begins with a single snare drum I received for Christmas when I was 6 in 1976. I was given a 5 x 14 Reuther snare and a book with an accompanying cassette tape with music to play to. Little did I know that Reuther was a Pearl stencil brand and that was actually the beginning of a lifelong allegiance to Pearl drums. In 1986 after years of playing the Reuther & a Ludwig marching snare I finally got my first kit, a 7 piece Export kit (4 up, 1 down, kick, snare). I used that until 1992, when I bought my 6 piece MLX kit (3 up, 1 down, single kick, snare). In 1995 I moved cross the country and over the next decade for various reasons I did not play. Around 1999 I sold the MLXs. In 2005 I got the playing bug & bought a Yamaha DTXtreme III E-kit. Finally in 2007 I decided to return to acoustic drumming & bought a Reference kit, which grew bit by bit over the next few years.

Seeing all the awesome Masterworks kits on this forum I began to really want a kit to my exact specifications and with a finish that really pops. So, I thought about getting some Masterworks drums for quite a while. Finally, when I saw that it was possible to put halo flakes over a sparkle finish I knew what my finish would be: Scarlet Sparkle Burst with Halo Flakes. I placed my order and a little over 5 months later my custom kit arrived.

My wife has always told me she wants my drum gear catalogued somewhere, so I figure I may as well do that here, where people that like gear lists can see it. So, here is what makes up the kit you will see below:

Enjoyed the commentary Mike, culminating with a great kit. Finish certainly pops, as I'm sure that 14x8 snare does!

YES! Absolutely stunning Mike. Those are some money shots right there, great photos that really show off the halo flake effect. Love the setup, looks very comfortable to play. Can't get over those finished hoops, and that kick head is great!

Congrats man, a true work of art and well deserved. Now if mine shows up looking anything like that (but in blue with chrome obviously), I'll be more than happy

Looks great brother! Really excited and really anxious to hear how you think it sounds. These shots came out really good. I get the idea of the halo flakes, especially in the last picture. Keep us posted!
