It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.

What kind of router bit are you using to round the shells if you don't mind me asking?

Something about the photo of the shell on its side in this post is really cool. It looks so powerful, just so solid. I'm enjoying following your progress, Jeff!
    "Why is that mirror sneezing?"

"Ah, look, it's just an old, creaky mirror, y'know, sometimes it sounds a little like it's sneezing, or coughing, or talking softly."

I'm eager to hear how my kit is going sound but a kit like a Saturn or Reference or Recording Custom can't really sound any better. I can't remember the member's name but another builder here "Davies Drums" makes stave snares. I don't know if he's made a full kit or will make full kits. He's got a lathe so it would *theoretically* be relatively easy for him to build a whole kit.
haven't checked in in a while but I'm liking what I see! I do make stave snares (Davies Drums) but I haven't tried a kit yet. My lathe only has a swing that allows 14" shells. I do have a 14"X14" prototype kick in the works. I made two 14"X7" shells and glued them together.
