How much did it effect the sound? I bet it's quite a bit more dry, looks pretty cool though

I don't know yet. The sun was down by the time I assembled it. Plus the top head, bottom head, snare wires & throw are all pretty much worn out.

I'm hoping it calmed it down some and I imagine it did. I doubt I really play it. It's more sentimental than any thing. It's the snare to my Yellow Flash 9 piece Export kit. When I sold the shells I threw in a pos steel snare and kept this one.

I went ahead a flat blacked the snare! I like it more.

You should try a speckled black and clear over it.... with some luck maybe it'll resemble a black galaxy finish?

Thanks. Now if it just sounded rad! It needs new heads and I haven't used this snare in probably 10 years. It gets the hand me down heads from other snares.

DFd... Attack snare head pack. It's like $15 for both heads. I've used that pack on my slingerland and that house kit and both snares sound pretty good. Then buy a set of the DFd German style wires and your set!

Instead of starting a new thread in the hardware section I thought I'd post here since it not a big, big deal. I mounted my hi hat to my icon rack.

I used a pivoting icon rack mount and a Pearl tom arm. Then a Pearl 2 post clamp. Came out rock solid. I was able to move my hi-hat side icon in about 10" because the hi hat stand legs no longer interfere. As I said, not revolutionary, but it's a first for me. Here's a few pics!

For the first time in around 20 years, I'm on the verge of joining a band. I talked to the rhythm guitar player/leader of the band tonight for about 45 minutes and it seems like a perfect match for me. And them. Punk/Funk/Hard Rock distorted mayhem.

I'm really looking forward to it. We should have our first practice next Sunday.

I will be taking the Sessions kit. Kick - 16" FT and probably just the 13" tom on a snare stand.

Then to decide what cymbals and snare to use!

I'm pretty excited. Hope the enthusiasm last.
