    Default Is this an Export?

I'm looking at purchasing a Pearl kit locally and the seller says it's an Export in his ad. The badges don't appear to say Export and I can't find any pictures of Exports with this style of badge and tom arm (shown in the picture below) in any of the old catalogues online. I don't have any close-up pictures of the badges but they look like the old 70's style that were simply black with the gold Pearl logo...similar to my '75 Jazz Rock Pro kit.

The bass drum is a 22" and from that I would guess that the rack toms are 12x08 and 13x09. The tom mount and arms would lead me to beleive it's an early 80's model, but, the shells look mid-late 70's to me. Can anyone offer some insight so I have a better idea of what I'm looking at when I go see it on Saturday?

    Thanks!

The only thing that might make me say it isn't an Export, is that the bass drum has 10 lugs per side. Generally the lower-end kits--like the Export--have only 8 lugs per side.

gyorpb - that kit looks very similar, except for the badging.

And yet again, I stand corrected Perhaps that 8-lug vs 10-lug thing was not yet in play.

That is from the 1982 catalogue. The 1980 Export Flyer shows no badges, but all Pearl drums sported the simple badges that the drums in the OP do in those days.

I'd say they might very well be Exports. Think of it this way: you may accidentally end up with a higher series, but you can't go down.

That's kinda what I was thinking too. I just hope the shells are in good shape...that's all I really want.

Those metal bass drum hoops scream Export. The tom holder's are also the same level series that came on Exports. I would have to guess Exports.
