Steady, that’s a good looking drum! Ive been wanting to add a few 8-lug models to my arsenal… one might be coming sooner than later(!)…

Matt, I’m looking forward to seeing your mods. I’m guessing Tama tube lugs and StarCast rims? When is the drum due to arrive?

I finally got around to disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling this snare I got a few months back. It’s a 14”x6” Pearl SensiTone Elite Classic steel Japan-only release (I believe) with FatTone hoops and built-in muffler. They used the TB-55’s instead of the TB-65’s,, which fit way better and I believe the finish is nickel. Other than the heads, snares, and replacement strainer, this snare is “stock”.

I now have a total of six steel snares in my collection…

I love both the copper and brass versions, so I'm sure the aluminum will not disappoint. The brass DCoP exclusive 6.5x14 brass is really special. Once I set it up, it hasn't left my kit. I have it tuned medium, maybe a little higher than medium, and it just has such a complex character to it. It feels like the drum could do it all.

My most recent cymbal acquisition is this custom pair of hihats. It's a 12" Sabian HH Prototype Splash (right) over a 12" Sabian HH Fusion Hihat bottom (left). The Fusion bottom was cut down from 13" to 12" by Chris at Drums on Sale.

For my $, that is the most beautiful drum kit ever made.

Has me thinking of wood tone. I should’ve grabbed that double kick MMX with black HW that was for sale a while back.

Just use it as motivation to order that Masterworks kit you've always wanted.
