Hey thanks much, MusicMan! I dig the grommet look, too. That one worked out.

I think it looks better than putting a large masking plate over the holes.

Agreed. Initially after I refinished the kit, I used chrome faucet blank outs to cover the holes. Thought that looked ok. But I don’t port my reso and was getting terrible bounce back on the pedal beater. Realized I needed those two ports open again and came up with the grommet solution. So get both look and function.

I recognized the grommets right away because I use them whenever I drill holes in Fat Tone hoops for snare cords (since Pearl doesn't make 10", 12", or 15" snare side Fat Tone hoops). The purpose they serve in that context is to keep the snare cords from getting cut by the edges of the holes in the steel hoops.

But, they look nice too since they create a clean look to the hole and are a neutral color.

Purchased a 20" A Custom Crash and a 21" Brilliant A Sweet Ride yesterday. Finally rebuilding my cymbal setup since my band broke up in February.

Thanks! Gonna grab a pair of 14" or 15" A New Beats, 19" Ultra Hammered China, and I found a Paiste Alpha Metal Ride in my friend's basement, which actually sounds really good, that he let me have. It's nice getting back into the saddle! I wish I could have gotten an A Custom Anniversary Ride but whenever I inevitably break the Sweet Ride, I'll get Zildjian to swap it out.

I have the 14" New Beats and like them a lot. I would imagine the 15" are nice too, but I haven't move up to playing larger hi-hats yet. I might try some larger ones if I go with the Zildjian Sweet series some day.

I commented on your snare in another thread but I will admit that it triggers my drum OCD that itís a Pearl drum on a Tama kit.

Have had my eye on this snare for a LONG time. Itís been sitting in the window of a drum shop and apparently it belongs to the owner and itís not for sale. Why put it in the window then?

Iím trying to change the whole ďnot for saleĒ thing. Oh, and the keys donít come with it. Lol

I agree. I hope he didn't buy the snare with the intent to match the kit.
