It looks cool in the picture... like a K Custom Ride.

The store almost closed in 2012 but was rescued with financial help from Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, who'd bought his first kit from there many years before. They're celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, making them the oldest drum store in the world, and certainly one of my favourites. I spent over an hour in there just chatting with the staff yesterday, always a very personal experience shopping there.

I got a KEO Loud shaker, KEO being the percussion division of British Drum Co, using their ply offcuts and recycling them into new instruments (Shakers, wood blocks, ching rings etc). The Loud shaker compliments my KEO Medium shaker perfectly. In addition, I picked up one of the Bill Sanders drum bumpers, which is a very useful little cushion that straps onto tom or snare lugs and stops any snare rash on finishes and also prevents rattle. Attatches very easily and stays on the drum while in the cases too, just a case of setting and leaving in place. Finally I got one of the anniversary t-shirts, classy in design and a nice little celebration of a legendary store.

I'm a bit miffed I missed this. I woke up and saw a post on FB about it (think it was Steve White wishing them a happy centenary) and thought I'd go along and pay them a visit since I hadn't been there in what must be nearly 20 years. Then I went back to sleep and woke up at 3pm, making it far too late to make the journey into town before they closed.

I hope you got a good deal on this classic ride.. I was trying to sell mine for a measly 85$ for the longest time and couldn't get rid of it!

This isn't my ride... I just posted the pic to show Stefan Ray how his custom order Sabian looks similar to a K Custom Ride. I have my own K Custom Ride, and wouldn't sell it. If I did, I'd get more than $85 for it... guaranteed.

Interesting description. Makes you wonder what it was used for then.

We’ll find out soon enough! Perhaps as a napkin-covered service tray at a drum convention? Lol

It wasn't the shirt (or the sale), I was annoyed at myself for not getting down there on their actual 100th birthday. Would have been nice

I’m confident it will. And for the record, I didn’t pay 700.00 for it.
