I said there was something special coming, and here it is:

Yamaha 14x5” Steve Gadd signature series, birch shell with black stained wood hoops. This has to be one of my holy grail snares, and I finally got one. Got an extremely good deal (Sub 300), and its in excellent shape, It even came to me with the original (though well used) Yamaha branded heads on. Sounds amazing as you'd expect, and i'm getting it signed by a bloke called Steve something or other(?!) when he's in Southhampton in November.

Paired with Vic Firth Steve Gadd natural sticks too.

That decagonal bottom hoop is throwing me for a loop. Gotta be tough to set up in a snare basket considering two of the basket arms wouldn't be square to the 'rim'. Unless you have one of those baskets with adjustable arms, I suppose...

Yeah it won't fit in a Pearl 830 stand (I tried), so i've pulled out my 2000 series with the adjustable arms as you said, which works a treat.

Put something on hold today that I'll be picking up Monday. In unrelated news, if anyone needs a kidney I have one up for sale!

Same here, have already flipped the brass Free Floater for more than double what I paid, and then bought the Yamaha birch Gadd snare, though the Gadd snare I practically stole, less than 200 ($250), a third of the usual pre-owned price.

I bought it because I'm selling some gear soon, so I was able to rationalize it even though I probably shouldn't have. Just don't know when I'd ever come across another one!
