    Finally found a used original Tama gong drum- i guess it's an 80s version- sounds huge!

    Man, if I could find a Pearl Gong Drum in BSF w/ black HW... I know they don't exist but a man can dream.

    Nice find! That looks like it is in great condition. I would love to hear a recorded sample of it. I have heard that they sound different than the Pearl and DW versions due to the oversized head.

    Nice Mirkko! When you put a new head on it, try to get a 22" head with a smaller collar. In your picture, I think I see the tension rods leaning up against the metal collar of the head... which will interfere with tuning the drum. Even if you are able to tune it, you could tune it LOWER if you could eliminate that interference. Evans and Aquarian make some 22" heads with smaller collars.

    Look at the head on my gong bass drum... this is the small collar, and I barely have enough clearance.

    It has more sustain because the timpani head/shell concept .

    Glad you noticed- yes I did that for multiple reasons- one is that gong vibrations made vibrate my tambourine and some other stuff as well, also I wanna be able to take it off or move when I want to set another kit in the centre of the room and i want to use the GD.
