I have no youtube videos to my name, but I have replaced a number of vents. With your '83 kit you'll probably need to pry out the existing vents. I never found a way to salvage them. I used a very small, very thin blade screw driver to pry up the pieces on the inside. Be very careful and go slowly to avoid putting large scratches on the inner shell; unless you like that kind of thing I push all of the "flaps" (not sure what to call them) toward the inside of the vent hole, and then used a fairly large phillips head screw driver to push the flaps which pushes the vent out. Too thin a phillips will merely push right through the hole. Anyway, I replaced my vents with 1/2" vents from drumfactorydirect.com: http://www.drumfactorydirect.com/ind...oducts_id=2274

The badges on the MLX kit were fairly easy to remove, as they are screwed on. I've removed and reattached badges on a DLX drum before, and this is probably closer to what you'll experience with your badges. I found the best method was to use a hair dryer and heat up the badge for a few minutes, which loosens up the underlying tape a bit. Then I used dental floss and worked it under the badge, and basically "flossed" between the badge and shell until the badge came off. A little Goo Gone will remove the tape residue from the shell.

It made a HUGE difference with the ones I had. Close to RIMS type result in the way they sang.

What part of San Diego ????? Congrats on the home !
Thanks for the tip! And I'm in South Park. Really great neighborhood. Much better than the lame suburbs where I've lived for most of my life. Ha ha!

    Cheers.
Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't considered asthetics as much as stability. I'll have to play around with the rack positioning.
