    Default Set up help

Can anyone give me some set up ideas for a six piece kit, 8, 10, 12, 14, 20. Cymbals are 15, 22, 24. Im trying get it set up as close and low as possible, it just seems im possible to get it comfortable after a hundred attempts.

Pictures would help, but I've got the feeling that if you've tried a hundred times to set it up and you can't make it work for you, then the config is not for you. Try a different one?

Here's 20/10/12/14 with 15/19/22 cymbals, maybe you'll get some ideas. Everything is pretty low - the ride sits just below my waist when I stand by the kit and I'm not that tall, just 5 foot 11. I play 15/22/24 too and that is comfy with a similar set up. Might not work for you but worth a shot!

That looks perfect man! Do you have any problems with the ride hitting the tom?

I have a double tom stand and one cymbal mount, so have to try and get it like that without being cluttered.

Cheers mate. Not really, it's a big cymbal and thus doesn't move enough to whack the tom even when I'm bashing away on it. Are you set on using your 8" tom? I've got one but I hardly use it because I can never quite get the set up feeling right.

What about a 10/12 on top, with the 8 left of the hi hat? It'll be low and the 8 might give you new rhythmic patterns.

I may give this a try, just afraid itll make my kits footprint too large.

Yeah I think I'll experiment with the side set ups.

    Thanks!

I would have the 8 and 10" toms offset to the left of the bass drum, and the 12" and 14" down in a floor toms position. Then, the cymbals can just go wherever since there are only 3. Of course, the ride would go next to the 10", just like where it would go in a 4-piece kit.

My current setup. tight, fun, and easy to maneuver.
