Props (again) to Chris at Drums on Sale! He brings in top-notch gear!

Thanks! Yes, there are 3 small vent holes in the Star Zebrawood. It's supposed to dry up the sound a little, and provide more even projection in all directions.

It has the new P88AC throw off, and all the other hardware goodies I like. It has an unusual patina, and a great sound. <img src="https://www.pearldrummersforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=511021"/> <img src="https://www.pearldrummersforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=511022"/> <img src="https://www.pearldrummersforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=511023"/> <img src="https://www.pearldrummersforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=511024"/>
Woah I really like the finish on this, very unique. Brass snares are where it's at! How thick is the shell? 1-2mm brass?

Yep, same as my black beauty. I think they make the shells the same way, seamless, but just finish them off differently.

There's nothing wrong with having a collection Nelson. Even if you just have 3, 5, or 10 snares. It's really nice having so many voices for the center of your kit.

Nice Black Beauty is always a go to for classic brass. There's something about laying into a brass drum with a good rim shot

Have you ever considered sampling your snares? With well recorded samples at varying velocities could be something marketable for use in music production. Not sure if you're much interested in recording/engineering tho

Maybe down the road, but at the moment, I'm recording only for my videos. Mike Foreman might be interested in that.

Here are a couple teaser pics... this snare is a real looker, as my friend Mike said. I'm reassembling it now.

DW lacquers the inner shells on most of their wood snare offerings. JG claims that contributes to a more reflective sound chamber, resulting in improved tonality. All I know is that their wood snares, super solid ones excepted, sound great.

I think there is a finish, but it is matte, not gloss. It is very smooth inside the drum.
