What do you think about the True Pitch 50 tension rods?

    I don't ever use the 3P butt.
The changes are too drastic in either direction.
I really like the sideways knob on the Mag throw though.

I think that's why I changed the speed setting on my drill from 1 to 2

Seriously, by hand, it's more of a nuisance to assemble the drum, but I get them started by hand, then use the drill to get them down close to making contact with the counter hoops. Once everything is tuned up, I don't notice much of a difference. Their drums are very easy to tune, so I don't think that feature was necessary.

I am in awe of this beautiful drum and it was disassembled/reassembled without a fingerprint! Congratulations Matt on another fine snare.

I actually removed fingerprints, inside and outside the shell. They clean them up before shipping, but it's not always perfect.

The next couple I have on order are definitely special... both one-of-a-kind. I will post pics once they arrive.

    Hammered Brass Shell
    All Black Hardware
    CL-55 Masters Lugs
    Mastercast Hoops
    SR-017 Strainer
    Stainless Steel tension rods
Remo Custom Dry-Vented Coated Ambassador OR any of a variety of Remo Coated batter heads, Remo Clear Ambassador snare side head
On an old SR017 of mine the rubber loop at the top has yellowed... plus there is dust under it. Is its only purpose to soften the feel when the snares are tightened (i.e. the bottom of the loop has a use and the top is just an ugly useless repercussion of the design...)?

I want to take it off but want to be sure I have a solution for if I do...

They stopped making it that way... mine has a black plastic piece there instead. If you remove the clear sleeve, I don't know what you could replace it with... I don't have one in front of me, but I bet you could come up with something.

I just looked at one of my snares with the SR017 strainer. The piece you’re talking about appears to be a piece of clear vinyl tubing. You’ll probably have to buy one foot of tubing and cut to fit. It looks like an easy fix.

I just checked all of my Pearl snare drums, to see if I could find a SR-017 with that clear tube. I thought I had SR-017s on several of my snares. However I now remember I replaced all but one with the SR-150 click lock.
