    Default Tom mounting

I'm planning on buying a new kit: Three rack toms; Two floor toms; Two bass drums; And a snare. I need to know how to mount my rack toms. Should I use a suspension rack system for the 10" and the 12", and mount the 8" on a cymbal stand? Or could somebody direct me to an existing thread that pertains to this?

Welcome to the forum! I used to mount my 2 rack toms on my cymbal stands but I switched to a Pearl Icon curved front rack.

I like scooter's idea, mainly because I did the same exact thing Did away with a lot of stands and made my setup look awesome similar to above. BTW welcome to the forum....

I use a PDP rack with an extra side extension on the right. Vintage Rogers Big R maple drums with original Memri-Lock tom arms and PDP clamps. It works out perfectly.

Nice racks. Personally I'd go a rack or stands but not a mixture of both.

With those type tom mounting systems, using multiple toms with a single bass drum, a rack is definitely a better setup.

I use a rack and have space for a second kick.

I have my 8" tucked in a spot no one else seems to use, the dead area between the snare and HH

I mount mine with the small toms off to the left of my hi-hat and the 12" to the left of the bass drum. I have a snare in the place of the 8" tom in this pic.
