1996 Exports. Got them for my son. Kept them around. Added another kick. Cut down the 16" floor to 14" deep suspended. Painted hoops and ISS white. Painted cowbell and added Bocote ridge. I'm gigging with this kit. The EC2's sound great. G1's on the bottom. EMad 2 on the main kick. I recovered in car wrap shrink. Massaged and trued all the bearing edges. Paiste 2oo2, Sig and Sound Formulas. Snare is a 13x11 Granstar converted to 8 lug die cast with Tamo fade bum wrap. Now 13x7.

Sweet rig, every knight! Nice custom work as well. Are those Pearl badges on the toms, or are they filler for the original tom mounts?

Those are the GK90 masking plates. I put some on myo ld exports when I put rims mounts on them.

They look great! I'll have to check them out. I'm in the process of adding an extra kick too. I love the painted ISS mounts! I may barrow that idea if I can find a matching paint!

    Very nice.

    Couple of questions.

If I am reading the photo correctly the 2nd bass is just for visual effect?

What is the plate that is covering the tom mounting hole on the bass? Is that something you made? I will eventually be needing that when I stand mount my 2nd tom.

The second bass is fully functional. I have to separate the Demon pedal. But I gig with this so some stages don't have room for a second kick as well as the PA usually doesn't have a second mic either.

As for the "badges", yes those are the GK-90's. They look like badges, so I added them to the kicks also. I also am painting the tom mount cover white, BBC-1.

I have now added a timbale. It started life as a 14" concert tom in a marching trio. Here's a couple pics.

Thank you the rocker and lddrummer. Since I cleaned up the bearing edges and put all fresh heads, top and bottom, I love these drums. They are so fat with EC2's. I haven't cut the port on the kicks yet and they are huge. My wife sewed up an Evans type pillow with gate in white. I modified an LP cowbell in white also.

That's with a Bocote ridge. The other bell is a Rock Ridge Rider with a new purpleheart ridge.
Then, I've got a 22" gong drum and some concert toms, 6" & 8" coming. The gong drum is a very old mahogany kick. The concert toms are Keller maple. I haven't figured out if I want to add them to this Export kit or my VSX Visions Gunmetal #437. Hope they come out sounding good.

    Default Got this last summer

Got this 1989 Export last summer from a friend who was selling it.
The kit originally consisted of a 14"x6,5 snare, 2x22" kicks, 10"-12"-13"-14" rack toms and 16"-18" floor toms.
Except for some small maintenance works and changing heads (some of them were still original!), the kit looks and sounds great. Loev the "80s" look!
I've never actually used this kit except for one gig last summer, and after that I gave it to a friend of mine who has a small rehearsal place.
Yesterday I took it back and had a little fun

First pic is from when I bought it and wanted to try again to play with 3/4 toms (some years ago I owned another export 2x22 kicks, 8-10-12-13 toms and 14-16 floors, black hardware on black shells), and I remembered I wasn't comfortable with that set up. With my DC8 (which I bought after selling the black export) I usually play with 10"-12" toms and a 16" floor as I find it more suitable to me, but I've always find the three toms set up very "attractive", so here comes the second pic (from yesterday), with 10"-12"-14" toms, 2 kicks and 16"-18" floors.

The Savannah II. I think it's a 97, but some people have told me it's as old as a 90. (I've replaced those pillows with a proper dampening pad.)
