Yamaha 14x5” Steve Gadd signature series, birch shell with black stained wood hoops. This has to be one of my holy grail snares, and I finally got one. Got an extremely good deal (Sub 200), and its in excellent shape, It even came to me with the original (though well used) Yamaha branded heads on. Sounds amazing as you'd expect, and i'm getting it signed by a bloke called Steve something or other(?!) when he's in Southhampton in November.

Paired with Vic Firth Steve Gadd natural sticks too.

Consider bringing the shell without heads, and having him sign the inside of the shell. Don't you think that would be special?

There is a Starclassic maple snare on eBay right now, that Mike Portnoy signed and dated (my birthday, coincidence) the shell and batter head. It looks like it could've been one of his old drums from Falling Into Infinity or Images and Words. An autographed Gadd signature snare would be a very nice collectible. I hope it goes well.

Thanks Matt, he's doing a show in November with the Blicher Hemmer Gadd trio in Southampton, near me, which I have a ticket for, he's doing a meet and greet session afterwards, and the shop hosting the gig said they're make sure it gets signed, either before or after the gig.

That will be great. The black hoops are nice, because they can be touched up easily if they chip. Wood finish hoops are harder to touch up. Make sure you post a pic after it's signed!

This is a beautiful snare drum... if you want to read all about it, see a bunch of pics, and watch a video about how it's manufactured, click HERE!

Matt, that SD is no doubt a work of art! Great video! Kind of reminds me of the artisans who custom hammer cymbals! Wonderful!

The copper snare looks great. I’m not sure what Tama was thinking when they chose the original hardware for that drum. The chrome die cast hoops and chrome tube lugs look way classier imo. I have to go ice my wrist after watching that video.

Thanks TM... Tama describes the hand hammering that way as well.

Thanks Marv. I couldn't imaging doing that all day as my job. I bet/hope they take lots of breaks.
