I'm sure there are, and have been for many years. At one point I was going to get a FF shell made by Rocket Shells, but then I found a 13x7 Rocket Shells snare (in 2005) and bought that - and it's been my go-to/main snare ever since. Awesome drum.

Thanks to this thread, I found out that FFS have different gens . Please help me to find answers to following questions :

    1. Now I know, that I have 1st gen FFS and looking at pictures on web I realized my snare is missing few parts. Snare tensions posts(sorry I don't know, what is the correct name) are missing with bolts and springs on both sides(see picture) Is it even possible to get spare parts for 1st gen?

    2. If I would buy lug posts from 3rd gen would those fit on 1st gen FFS?
    3. Would snare wires S1420I fit on 1st gen - I mean would those stick outside the snare rim? Or I had to buy S025 wires ?

I wish they still made drum shells.

    HI,

    1. You could eventually find the parts, but it might take some time to see them listed on eBay or Reverb. You might also be able to purchase a 1st generation chassis without the shell.

    2. The lugs will not fit.

    3. Puresound makes snare wires for the vintage free floating snares.

I just got response from Pearl dealer.

    1. Spare parts for 1st gen of course are not produced anymore.
    2. Snare wires for 1st gen is Pearl S025 or yes you can buy Puresounde vintage one
    3. Lug posts from 3rd gen FFS will not fit on 1st gen.

I was about to order FF system from dealer, but delivery time for strainer SR-160F is august-september. Any idea , if any other strainer would fit to 3rd gen FFS ?

Why not just order the chassis or one of the FF stock snares that come with the strainer?

You can use the SR-010 strainer from the 2nd gen FF, they will fit with no issues. You can also use the SR-1000F which is the original from the 3rd gen FFs. It's a lot pricier than the other options at around 150.00 US, where the SR-010 from the 2nd gen is only about 45.00 US. Any of those will fit your snare though.

Do note that the SR-160F will fit but it is very possible that you will have to modify the chassis where it fits. You must modify slightly for a 2nd gen, and is possible that on some 3rd gens you will have to as well to get the SR-160F to fit. See this thread for details, it's how I modified my 2nd gen for it to fit. Didn't take long at all though!

I was thinking LD, if one wanted a free floater with a strainer that adjusts from both sides, they could use the SR-1000F butt along with the SR-160F throw off... that would be pretty nifty.

That is a great idea! If I ever decide to upgrade this one I will most likely look into that!
