14" rack...ya baby!!! haha. Definitely should have had a "who cares" option for virgin vs non virgin kick. This is my first virgin kick and have to say I like it very much. Could I live without it and have one less stand to weigh down my hardware bag? Yes sir!

    i prefer virgin kicks
people say they dont hear a sound difference , i do.end of story . i also dont like the idea of putting excess weight on my bass es.... i feel that it compresses the shell ever so slightly ,,,,and possibly effects tuning ) ..
for me, story isnt where or not drilled bass drums still sound good , its the fact that , to my ears ,my kicks sounds different,( for me better) than drilled shells i like the sound ...to be honest , the sound to my ears is slight ,,, but its there ..i feel that the sound of say, a drilled shell, after hours and could be annoying ,like a pedal with a squeaky spring ...your guitarist has never noticed .......but you do, and after hours and hours , day after day..it just irks you ..lol it think if youre that kinda drummer, than addressing the bass drum sound could appeal to you if youre tha kinda guy that can let that roll off your back like a duck in water, then none of this matters
but us perfectionists , will prolly always have a virgin kick no matter what size ..lol

I like them both... I prefer a tom mount. I buy a lot of used gear and I will take great drums either way, but it is just easier to me with kick mounted toms.

Virgin bass drums are for the purist and if you're going expensive but I think kick mounted toms offer more convenience and quicker tear down/build up time as otherwise you're gonna need a rack or similar. There again, rack setups can quick to put together but will likely be more expensive.

If I bought a decent quality kit again I'd go for virgin bass.

I prefer a virgin so it doesn't know how bad I am and has nothing else to compare to.... Wait, what are we talking about?
