Whenever I see Eric's kit it looks so spotless and clean. My drums need a deep cleaning haha! I thought, "hey they're ok"....I dust them off and stuff. Then last night I was thinking of all the gigs I did last year: inside clubs, outdoors clubs, parties, under the Redwoods, a few barns (ho-downs haha) ......jeezzzzzzz....they're filthy! haha. When am I happy (and lucky!) I bought them used at 1/3 of the price? After every one of those gigs! haha.

Wild set up man I like it! Aside from an extra inch of depth on my 12 I have the exact same sizes, but they look wayyy bigger on your kit than they do on mine. I enjoy the 12 / 14 / 16 intervals as well, but I never even considered putting my 14 up over the bass like that. Ever have any issues getting it comfy / staying secure?

Thanks, RA. I absolutely love this combo. I was wanting to try it and then luckily found it. The 12 X 14 sits about an inch higher than I would like. Luckily I sit a bit high so it's not a huge deal and now feels normal. There was a time during the summer I considered cutting it down, but then I realized I just needed to do some push ups haha. It had been a long while since I did those! lol. Since then I find it's essentially at the perfect height without any extreme angles. I call this combo 'incremental perfection'. I get the punch and 'tenor-ness' from the 12, a bit of a power tom feel from the 14 and the full on squared 16 x 16. I 'occasionally' miss the punch of a shallower depth 2nd rack (a 13"???)...then I play and that feeling goes away haha. Ideally a 10 or 11 inch depth would be best for the set up if you don't sit high. I tend to tune a bit higher and my 12 sounds essentially like a 10 on steroids The 14" is rock solid up there. I highly recommend it (pun intended )
Here's an older pic to give you a different perspective of the tom height. Please ignore those DC hoops on the snare I also have all Eliminators on the floor now.
