i sanded and refinished the shell before painting, i bought the snare used and it had some dings in it. it has about 15 light coats on it, of which are, 4 flat black base,6 color,5 clear. cost me about $30 to paint

the best thing about painting a drum is that there is no limit to what it can look like, it really personalizes the drum to the user. its so rewarding when its finished, knowing you put the time in it to make it what you want. on my next drum i want to try stencils. im thinking like a blue and white. its awkward when you strip a $400 drum down to a bare shell and see all the pieces layed out, it made me feel sick but it was for the better of the drum.

Here is mine. It's from the 2009 Blue Knights line. The entire line was returned to Pearl and sold through a local shop. There were two left when I bought this one. A used one and this. It was brand new in the box in the bag with factory heads on it. I was shocked! This has a custom wrap and all the hardware on it is chromed aluminum, not brushed or polished aluminum. I bought the Evans heads for it and put it back in the box. In essence, this is a brand new CarbonPly snare. It sounds and looks amazing and as for as I know is only 1 of 7.

well the snare in my posts above has undergone some changes(:
now here it is with a custom finish to resemble the cavaliers, first i removed the old wrap, sanded the drum, then it was stained red, then masked with stripes, painted black, took the tape off, clear cloat, and here ya go!
