smith mallets...

im looking at buying some smith mallets (from the ebay store), but im a little unsure of the quality cause ive never used them before. i need some feedback on if they are a good buy and why...

I have never used Smith mallets myself. I did, however, find this when I was looking for more info on them:

well...idk if anyone cares, but here is a quick update...i bought a set of medium marimbas, and one pair each of poly ball, hard rubber, and medium rubber from smith mallets...
i am pretty satisfied. the mallets are a bit light, but i like that to a degree. the poly ball mallets are really light tho...almost too light. idk if i like those, they aren't an all-around type of poly ball mallet, but they have their applications...
all-in-all, im pretty pleased. i probably won't buy anything else from them, but thats just because ive fallen in love with innovative since i created this post...lol...

I'm currently in the midst of a classical percussion degree atm, and myself as well as a few others are using Smith mallets.

I think they're great; they are a bit longer-handled than most of the Balter's that I've tried, and that as well as the stiff birch serves a Musser/Stevens grip really well. This is coming from a guy who hasn't tried a whole lot of the competition, but you're not going to find better quality for the price. The mallets as well as the quality of the store itself are top-notch, I highly recommend.

i would agree...however, comparing them with balter's doesn't mean very much....balter mallets kinda...well...suck. I am still of the opinion that all the innovative mallets i have purchased are the best. especially the Nebojsa Zivkovic's or the Evelin Glennie's...amazing solo mallets...
