I bought these drums because they came with the standard black Vision lugs and hardware. I swapped them out for the chrome from my Session kit, so now l have two six piece kits

Nice! I hope you didn't have to redrill to accommodate lugs. If so, it wouldn't be worth the change to me.

    Everything matched up perfectly.

The spacing was the same for the lugs, spurs, and brackets.

The Vision bass drum was only eight lug, while the Session is a ten. I had to use four of the Session lugs, so l left them on the bottom. The lug nuts are different as well, otherwise it was a seamless changeover. I knew that there would not be any problem, after all, these are Pearls. I have always loved the fact that with Pearl, you can adapt old and new so easily. At least in my experience with them.

Some pictures of my yet to be complete set.

It still needs 14x14 and 16x16 floor toms, and a 20x18 bass drum to finish it off. The change in timbre / sound quality is phenomenal by changing my 12" Premier Olympic for just a Vision VX tom. Can't imagine what a Reference would sound like (I don't have access to drums).

I played a stock 22" Vision VX bass drum that an acquaintance has, and again, the difference in timbre is ridiculous - in a good way.
The Premier Olympic sounds thin and dry whereas the Pearl Vision VX - despite still having stock heads - sounds much fuller and warmer, packing quite the low-end thump: so I am very much looking forward to completing my Vision VX set.
