    No.

That would go in the “What’s your Current set up?” Thread…

This thread is for listing the cymbals you own.

Also, it can’t be your “current” set up if you don’t currently have the 15” hats set up, lol.

Just busting your balls. We have the same drum kit! I’m glad you seem to like yours as much as I love mine.

Can't wait to play these 15" Monarch hats with a band tomorrow night. So far I'm really pleased.

The link you posted in another thread had a really decent sounding pair of these hi hats. I like how dirty they look. Are they lathed? They appear to be, which makes me wonder about the finish. Is it applied afterwards to make them look old? I have a few of the Avedis series cymbals and some of them are really dark with the “pre-aged” faux patina that is applied.

You're right, the top of Monarchs are supposed to be un-lathed but they have spiral lines so I'm unclear about that but the lathed underside of XSR Monarchs look like any other cymbal except the bell is left unfinished. Here's a pic I lifted off of the internet:

I was happy with how they played. Hearing them in the Zoom recording they are what I was hoping for.

I'm hip. Will try to get info from the horse's mouth. They're good about that.

This from Peter at Sabian customer service:

"The top of the Monarch hats are only pinpoint lined, not lathed. Rather than the full lathing treatment which would open the sustain totally, the pin point lining will add a bit of sustain and character but not allow it to fully open up. It's just one way of tweaking the overall sound character of a cymbal."

Monarchs actually remind me of my first 20" Zildjian from Istanbul that was probably made in the 50's or very early 60's.

    Paiste Signature:
    10" Splash
14" Medium Hi Hat Top and Bottom (always liked the Sound Edge hats tho)
    16" Full Crash
    17" Fast Crash
    18" Fast Crash
18" Thin China (too thin! Edges are flattening out)
20" Full Ride (would like to replace with something dryer, maybe a 22" Stewart Copeland Blue Bell Ride)

    Sabian:
10" Chad Smith Holy China (stacked on my China)
