    Default Artison finishes.

    How do the finishes effect the sound, or do they? I want a Mahogany kit but do I nees 4plys or 2plys? I want them to sond
    like MHX but with artison looks. please help thanks.

    due to the fact that the artisan finish goes on the outermost ply of the drum, i would seriously doubt if it would change the sound. it would vibrate the least out of all the plies. if there is a difference, it is far too small to notice.

    If you go with a 6 ply lets say, it technically is 5 plys mahogany, then the one ply Artisan.If you wanted Tamo as an outside ply, the last ply under the Tamo would need to be maple.Maple is the underneth or "carrier"ply for Tamo.In this case, your drum would be 4 ply mahogany,one ply maple, and 1 ply Tamo..

    The outer artisan ply will not affect your sound..at least not to the human ears capabilities..

    26/16 BD 8 plies stagered Mahogany Maple 1 ply Tamo
    18/18 FT 4 plies 2 iner Mahogany 1 Maple 1 Tamo
    16/16 FT 4 plies 2 iner Mahogany 1 Maple 1 Tamo
    14/12 MT 4 plies 2 iner Mahogany 1 Maple 1 Tamo
    12/10 MT 4 plies 2 iner Mahogany 1 Maple 1 Tamo
    14/6.5 snare 9 ply Maple 1 ply Tamo
    All in natural Tamo with Gold hw on every thing.
    Carl can I get a list prise on this kit please?
    I am trying to build My tribute to John Bonham with this one.
