    Smile Pearl Ranger 2 series?

I found two tom toms today in a second hand store today.
They are Pearl Ranger 2's which were manufactured in Japan.

I don't think they ever sold in the States but I could be wrong.
The ones that I saw today had a brown plastic wrap and I do not think that I've ever seen any rangers with a painted finish on them.

Does anyone have any information on what type of wood the shell is constructed from?
And what level of drumset they were?I have a feeling they are Export level drums.
    Any help would be appreciated.

True..Not avail on US soil..Gene has a catalog with those in it I believe..You may want to buzz him in a PM, and ask him to reply to this thread..I cant remember the wood construction off the top of my head.I think the were like World Series, only in the Asian market..

I found the Ranger Series in the 1988 Japanese catalog.

It appears to be the replacement to the Rockbird series which was the "Forum" for the Japanese market.

Unfortunately, I don't have many Japanese catalogs from this era so I don't know when the Ranger was introduced.

    Here's what I know and don't know:

    1986 - Rockbird
    1987 - Rockbird or Ranger?
    1988 - Ranger
1989 - Ranger or Ranger II?
1990 - Ranger or Ranger II?
1991 - Ranger or Ranger II?
1992 - Ranger or Ranger II?
    1993 - Ranger II

    Thanks Gene!

For those of you who can't read Japanese the catalog says that the Ranger series is made of 9ply mahogony.

    Default Nice work Gene!

    Nice work Gene!

Do you or any one else here speak Japanese?

If so, do you have any idea what this Ad says? It came from a magazine dated June 1966.

    Thanks in advance!
