This is a Yamaha Russ Miller Groove Wedge. It mounts to the lugs on the side of a snare drum. The RMGW (Groove-Wedge) is 19-ply Vintage wood hoop, cut to approximately 6 in. - 7 in. in length and mounts to the lugs on the side of a snare drum. This wedge creates a unique cross-stick, especially on smaller piccolo to sopranino snare drums where the smaller diameter makes it difficult to play a cross-stick. They sound fantastic, I will be ordering one later today!!

the nice thing about adding accents to your kit is that you do not have to pay for any name brand equipment if you are injinuitive (sp) or cheap. heck I have seen people take a trashcan and put a head on it. I am thinking about making octobons out of allumenium and steel pipe. you can cut pipe to different lengths and make sweet sounds, heck pull off a slipknot and steel a bear keg *dont steel it
    ideas are endless

Well, I know that Gerald Heyward uses one on hit kit... maybe you can get a clip of him on drummer world.. I will see if I can find any... it sounds awesome! It was after seeing him perform with Rob Thomas that I geard it and just needed to know what it was so I checked out his specs and there it was... so, I got the exact same one... there are like 4 different effects ones.

Try that link... I am not sure what he does on it as I don't have quicktime on this computer and couldn't play it.
