    Pull your stick back after you hit a cymbal (or let it rebound on rides/ hi-hats), don't push the sticks on the cymbal. Also hit wit a slight twist of your wrist, this is supposed the be better for the cymbal but I never do it (at least I'm not aware of it) and I have no trouble with my cymbals or my technique.
