Has anybody ever tried Vic Firth 85A. There similar to 5As but they are slightly thinner, between a 7A and a 5A. They are great for speed and also intricate stuff, and don't snap as easy as 7As

i started whith performance percussion 7a wood wich sucked then 7a nylon vic firths whith insulating tape as grip which lasted me 2 yrs (but i did'nt have a kit so i could only use them once a week in my lesson at scool) and now ive got zildjian 5a anti vibes wich ive used regulaly for a few months wich are better than the vic firths in my opinion and ive also tried vater nylon 7a manhattan which are ok and vater chad smith funkblasters which are great1

also i snapped some other sticks after just one band practice but ive done hundreds of practicies whith the same pair of anti-vibes in our pretty sound proof school practise room and the double/maybe triple glazed windows shut, when the technician(also a drummer) came from the other side of the music block to tell us off 4 being too loud. thats how hard ive been playing. anyway theyve lasted that so i dont know what else to say. good stix!

I love 85A's.. they're just about the perfect size IMO. 7A's always feel too skinny for me, and sometimes 5A's are just a little too beefy. Too bad VF doesn't make Maple 85A's or I'd be all over them. I also like the VF Dave Weckl Original Signature sticks, they're just a tiny bit thicker than 85A's but feel much lighter and have good reach. I also bought a pair of the Dave Weckl Evolutions for more of a 5A feel.
