The Rogers Dynasonic should #1 on any such list.
That's a Rogers Powertone and it's a better made drum for sure but the Slingerland is probably more rare.
As of about a month ago I do have an 18" floor tom!
Reduced the price to $500.00 - this is a steal folks. If it doesn't go this time it stays with me forever...

As much as I love this drum I'm considering putting it up for sale. It is a custom Maple shell SFZ - Made for the Madison Scouts...

Vintage Rogers "Big-R" Maple drums. Rogers COB Dynasonic, Rogers COB Powertone, Avedis Zildjian cymbals.
I tried both of those and the DW 9000 series. While I personally chose DW, it was really close between the Speed Cobra's and the DW's. For me the Pearl's didn't feel nearly as solid as the other two....
They actually make tenor practice pads. They can be a bit pricey. Maybe contact the director at your school's marching band and see if he has any resources he can point you toward. Enjoy it! Drumline...
Many of the hardware features we take for granted these days were pioneered by Rogers. I will confess to owning one Yamaha marching snare but other than that my stuff is mostly Rogers - and a few...
Are you sure it's a superten? The bottom rim is definitely from a Rogers Dynasonic. Nice job bye the way!
Stick tricks - zzzzzzzzz - I'd just like to hear him play.
I use a PDP rack with an extra side extension on the right. Vintage Rogers Big R maple drums with original Memri-Lock tom arms and PDP clamps. It works out perfectly....
This is where Yamaha keeps their list of corps drums for sale.

I'm of the opinion the Rogers were some of the very best drums ever made. I will never need to play another drum set.
Give it time - SCV will be primed to rise into the top 3 next year. My opinion anyway. I think Crown will fall back into the 4th or 5th spot where they traditionally reside.
I get that the newer mounts allow the shell to resonate more freely but there is no way I'm not using the original Rogers Memri-Lock hardware. It's what started it all.
My thoughts exactly! Thanks!
The 10" tom is an XP8 double-headed tom - not a 6 ply concert tom. When I re-wrapped it I also spatter-painted the inside of the shell to look more like the others. The 15" was done the same way.
You're not the first person to say that - them being vintage drums and all but honestly the Rogers tom holders are so solidly built it seems they were made for a rack. The rack makes it possible to...
A view from up top...

Mapex drums are pretty well made but I think Pearls are better. Money has everything to do with it.
