Dumb idea, but...
The thing that's preventing the younger student from really LAYING into the drum, is the drum's volume. It hurts his ears. Muffle the kid's ears with plugs and headphones. ...
Unless you can identify the problem with this 12" tom and fix it for good, you'll never be happy with the kit. No matter how beautiful it is, or how good the other drums sound; it will always bring...
In its current condition (made in China, no hoops, strainer or tuning lugs) it's worth about $50.00.

The pay was great. And that was the only good part. They completely misrepresented the job and I foolishly bought it. Ridiculous hours... Bad boss... Night shift... Horrible working...
Update on me: Had some setbacks but am doing well.
December 2018: started a "dream job" with a big company making lots of money
January 2019: my dream job became beyond horrible. I was...
500 bucks for a single pedal? Dude... That's insane!
Looks like Yamaha's high end "deep aqua" finish from long ago. Stunning!
Wow! Nice work. I've seen a lot of restoration work and done a little myself, but yours is particularly noteworthy.
Agreed. OP has talent. Looks kinda like 1950's cartoonish stuff. Good stuff.
Rumor on the street says you've finally caved in to the crushing peer pressure and are going back to a BB3 mount. :)
I'm gonna dress up as a BB3 on Halloween! :)
If I were in your shoes, I'd buy an extra floor tom leg of the same size you currently use and have it cut up in 8" pieces and professionally welded to yoir current legs.
Dang, that's a sharp looking kit! The satin chrome is very classy. The pinkish hues in the shell would cause me to catch a lot of grief from my fellow band members. Jus' sayin'. :)
I probably rim shot about 5% of the time. Sometimes I do it by accident, like during a slow ballad. :)
I think you made a smart move sending it back. When
buying new, anything less than 99% is unsatisfactory.
Sorry to hear the bad news, especially around Christsmas. Very sad. I'd be pissed.
Completely understand. About 2 years ago I loaned a drum set to my lead singer for the summer. When I got...
^^^^ Those are some great photos. They tell a beautiful story. Glad to hear your better half is fully on board with your career decision. You realize they're smarter than us? :)
Glad to hear you're loving the new job. It's pretty cool tha ALL the employees are good people. In my experience, there's always that ONE guy. (Maybe you're that guy!?). :)
My only experience...
Window shopping is a gateway drug to purchasing. :)
I have a little experience with Amazon. If you are in the least way unhappy or even uncertain about your purchase send it back immediately.
I have the same truck but a bit older: 1996! Hey.... It was paid off decades ago and still runs fine. I do get a little nervous at boat launches though and always keep my windows wide open. :)
If truth be told, I'd be just fine letting many of you forum guys play any of my gear rather than some of the local Bozos around here. No, I've never met any of you, but you seem solid... Uh.... ...
Good move. The few times I allowed my kit to be played by others, I was always disappointed with the manner they played.
- turning sticks around
- hitting REALLY had
- striking cymbal edges...
