I'm pretty much down to one kit; an MCX (bronze glass wrap). Sizes: 9x10, 10x12, 14x14, 16x16 and 18x22. I only play 4- piece so grab whatever toms depending on the gig.

    As for the 10" tom,...

Time to pack up the drums and take a break. Let them sit in cases for years if need be. One of these days you'll catch the urge. And if not, who cares? Spend your newfound time doing new things: ...

    Update:

I'm having more fun playing percussion in this band than drums in my other band. The drummer and I are still clicking well together. He lays down the groove and I "dance" around it. ...

You went through a lot; more than can be imagined. We are honored that you have chosen to hang with us. This is a good place to talk drums and forget about everything else.

I have die cast, 1.6mm, 2.3mm and 3.0mm hoops on my various drums. Honestly, I can't tell any difference in sound.

    I had to laugh!

My wife was born and raised in West Germany. I know all about "very direct people"! Yeah... I get yelled at in two languages! :)

The drum was out of warranty. If I were the customer, I would have expected to purchase the lugs. Pearl covered it anyhow. I'm very impressed. This is one of the many reasons why 90% of my drums...

Same here. It's actually more of a challenge doing weird percussion stuff. The guys are pretty good about helping me figure out what works and what doesn't.

Very sad. He was my favorite drummer; mainly due to his classy demeanor. We lost another great one. The Rolling Stones will never be the same. RIP Mister Watts.

Overall, I'm very happy with my Pearl drums. I'm down to just one kit: an MCX and it does everything I need it to. My six snares are all metal shelled Pearls. I couldn't be happier with them. ...

Long time drummer becoming a PERCUSSIONIST!

I just got hired on to a local classic rock cover band as a percussionist! I'm pretty geeked and am actually enjoying it as much if not more than drumming.

I'd stick with a 14" snare if I am buying an expensive custom drum. While the 13" size is cool and fun, there's a reason why 14" is the industry standard. It just "feels" right.

You'll do fine. It's amazing what the body can do in the heat if you eat a lot and hydrate.

Congratulations on the gig. Many of us would love to be in your shoes.
