I’m not aware that anyone has ever made an 8mm thick cast bronze snare. If it were even practical to make, it would likely sound like hitting an anvil.

Sigh, if I must pick one, my Guru segmented padauk 7x14, on the right. This drum sounds so unique and musical. The Guru padauk stave on the left isn’t shabby either.
What are you trying to do to Matt with that Evans logo, put him in the hospital? Great kit!
Such an extraordinary collection Charles. Our tastes are so similar.
I’m so sick of showering praise and condolences to undeserving deceased celebrities. We put these people on pedestals simply because of their fame and talent. I didn’t know the deceased personally...
Wow, who’s next, Slip?
Gorgeous drum Matt, and well kept by the looks of it. Try tuning the rods closest to the snare wires a bit tighter than the rest. Takes advantage of the crimped snare beds.
Yeah, clearly a personal preference. I love how the lugs resemble the mallets on the badge.
Lol, you’ve figured out where I do my pawn shopping Matt.
Pawn shop find. Looks like some kind of Sonor brass or bronze drum.
This is what happens when you visit the biggest drum shop on the planet: Noble&Cooley steambent maple 7x14.
The OP is still using a Pearl FF chassis, a significant component of each drum, so I personally believe that the OP is certainly entitled to stick with Pearl badges, especially since there is a...
Pay no attention to the knucklehead who wrote that review. On one hand he lauds their small size (can fit between toms) before calling out their size as not being the smallest. Which is it, an...
Welcome back! Going to be a great kit.
Welcome back. You mentioned gigging so I’d recommend getting a Tama Starclassic walnut/bubinga or the discontinued birch/bubinga. Many dealers are clearing out stock on the latter and great deals are...
Congratulations on the find! I once owned a couple of 20 ply Reference drums some years back and found them to be anything but sensitive though. We probably have different definitions of what...
Alan White would be proud. Precise playing. I didn’t perceive a tempo anomaly.
Not enough china cymbals but wow, extraordinary kit!
Here’s one you may not have heard: https://youtu.be/eAti8JNmJi8
Thanks. I'm pretty sure that this is a real veneer. Surprisingly many Sq2s have Alpi finishes, like their Santos rosewood finish.
Sonor SQ2 heavy maple 7x14. These diecast hoops are special. Throw is a bit over-engineered but boy is it smooth.
Darker stains often mask the exotic finish wood grain. Not the case here. Gorgeous.
Wow, what a kit! Congratulations Mirkko.
Four to six months.
Just placed an order for an SQ2 medium beech snare 7x14 to match my ProLite blue sparkle vintage maple kit. Now the long wait begins.
