  3. For many years Im testing different to magazines or colleagues by comparing several identical kits (mostly 3 to 4) of the same! series & identical shell-sizes against others of a different series. So lemon-car effects or subjective biases based on the look & sound of a single set are eliminated! I also test drums only in the same room placed close! together (to avoid room-ambience-related sound differences) by rushing from set A to set B or by holding one drum close to the other & hit it in a sequence like A - B - A -B etc. Why this? Because we can store a melody in our brain for decades. Sadly in contrast a complex sound-scenario like a drumsound (with hundreds of diverse overtones etc. sound-characteristics) fades as a reliable memory in seconds. Drum-comparisons in my point of view have to take place under the same! room-acoustics and via a very close time-intervall as an A/B comparison. This may sound bizarre to some - but to me is the only way that makes sense. Take care! Gerald
