Pearl introduces Wood Fiberglass Series

Having pioneered the fusion of Fiberglass material to wood drum shells in the late 60’s, Pearl is proud to announce the return of Wood Fiberglass Series drums as a limited production offering in 2015.

True to the legacy set by their innovative forefathers, new Wood/Fiberglass drums’ 7-ply Kapur-blended shell features an inner layer of Fiberglass that is hand-applied and lacquered through a painstakingly precise process. To further sculpt the tone of these unique drums, a sharp 45-degree edge is cut on the toms of each kit, while the bass drums feature a fully-rounded bearing edge.

Pearl’s limited production run of new Wood Fiberglass drums will include three traditionally-sized 3-piece shell packs.

Awesome! I'll be getting one of those FW923XP/C packs in Piano Black for sure (with an added 7x10 for good measure)! The street price for that shell-pack should be about a grand, correct?

The FW923XP/C MSRP is 1759, so the MAP is 1055.

A grand for a three-piece partially poplar kit seems pretty steep, at least to me.

so ... just by this description it's safe to assume that the interiors will look like the 80's Pearl Maple/Fiberglass GAX shells? .. Like in the picture I've attached of an actual GAX Maple/Fiberglass interior?

yep,the badge reminds me my old concert tom BLX kit. i just love the idea of fiber shells coming back .
