Thank you to all who joined us on the Pearl Drummers Forum but we have decided to continue the conversation at the Pearl Drummers Group on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/pearldrummersgroup Although the Pearl Drummers Forum is closed, the content is still searchable as there are many informative threads on Pearl gear. We hope to see you at the Pearl Drummers Group!
Set up two bass drums in the standard configuration, then have one bass drum to the side of the kit with a double-pedal. The double-pedal's slave pedal is set next to the hihat or right bass drum pedal (right-handed drummer). You can actually get four bass drums this way, by putting a bass drum on both sides, with double-pedal slaves sitting next to both the hihat and right bass drum pedals.
I think DW or Gibraltar might make a special slave-only pedal specifically for this purpose.

You can also set up a central bass drum with an offer double pedal, then put a bass drum on either side with double pedals with shortened drive shafts (one left, one right footed). Depending on your leg span and bass drum sizes, you might be able to get away with single pedals on the left and right bass drums

Any example pictures? Assuming presence of a remote hi-hat, where would the pedal go? I would think this would be too tight a setup for the human anatomy (I would think no one’s legs can span that wide — unless you were born able to do the splits, perhaps.

Do you have any example pictures? I was interested in setting up two bass drums both with double pedals, somewhat similar to the scenario you narrated but the physics of it just did not work. Where would the hi-hat pedal(s) go? How would you fit two double pedals (one slave only) in the setup given two hi-hats?
