Thank you to all who joined us on the Pearl Drummers Forum but we have decided to continue the conversation at the Pearl Drummers Group on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/pearldrummersgroup Although the Pearl Drummers Forum is closed, the content is still searchable as there are many informative threads on Pearl gear. We hope to see you at the Pearl Drummers Group!
Hey Mike. I liked the tunes. Kinda reminds me of Prong meets
Pantera with some Trouble thrown in. Kit sounds good. If you
like the doom metal stuff check out some old Trouble. I got
into them in the mid 80’s. Anyhoo thanks for the tunes. Be safe.

Thank you, Eric, for checking our stuff out and the feedback. I really appreciate both. We haven't really made a point of sticking to a genre trying to have a particular sound. We just do this stuff for our own amusement and run with whatever pops into our tiny little heads. Our other project (also on Bandcamp) is called the Off Duty Stars and that's where we post our covers and lighter material.
Though I never thought about doing a song in the style of Prong, it'd be incredible to me if we actually did pull that one off. They were 1 of my favorite bands back in the '80s and '90s, easily. If I ever had 1/2 of Ted Parson's groove it'd be amazing.
I've never thought much of doom music but went through a little phase there where that was what came out of me when playing guitar. I seem to have moved away from that for the time being but who knows when we'll do something more doom again. It's bound to happen some day.
Here is a link to the Off Duty Stars if you want to check it out. Don't feel obligated to do it. The link's just here in case you are curious.
Sounds really good. Feedback from a drummer, another db or two on the toms. I'll really liked the cymbals. What Overheads did you use?
Thanks for checking it out & the feedback. I'll keep the toms comment in mind for the next mix.
My overheads are actually Slate ML2s. Even without any mic emulations I think they sound great. I have close mics on the hi hat & ride and they are ML2s as well. I tried a few types of mics as overheads and the ML2s sounded best to me. I think they hit way above their weight class (i.e. price point).
Drums are a Pearl Vision VBA purchased in 2011. The snare is a Mapex Black Panther 'The Blade'.
Heads: snare had Evans HD dry over stock Remo snare side, toms had Evans G2 coated over stock Pearl reso's, kick was an Evans EMAD over Evans G1 clear.
Cymbals: Istanbul Mehmet Samatya set + Sabian 16" HH Rock Crash + Istanbul Mehmet 16" traditional china.

Enjoyed the quality of your recordings. What hardware did you use to record these and what was the snare drum used?
You seem like a talented bunch. Still making music?
i apologize man i have been away for a long time and havent been able to get back on the boards
to answer your questions no we are not together anymore. shortly after this was released we experienced some bad blood between some of the members which led to splitting up. im still friends with a couple of the guys and tried to get something put together, but doesnt look promising. i do miss these guys and the old days. we were actually just about to start touring before it all went bad
the snare i used for these songs was a vintage Slingerland snare with Remo Ambassador coated head if i remember correctly. there was a couple songs on there i didnt upload that i recorded using a TAMA Artstar snare with Black Dots
Pearl Export SX 5pc Black Quartz
