Questions about Vision VB Series

Hi,

This is my first post on this forum, and I was hoping someone here might be able to help me. I've been thinking about custom ordering a Vision VB kit, and had a few questions about them.

First of all, how do they sound? This is mainly going to be a home practice kit, so it doesn't have to sound amazing, but I don't want them to sound like crap, either. I had a birch Ludwig kit for a while, and I liked the way they sounded, but I read that these are birch/basswood shells. Does anyone know how many plies are birch and how many are basswood?

Second, I'm planning on getting them in Chrome wrap, but I've seen some listed as Polished Chrome and some listed as Mirror Chrome. What exactly is the difference between the two, or are they the same?

And lastly, does anyone know if the 24" bass drums come with 8 or 10 lugs per side?

sorry to tell ya, the visions drums have been discontinued for a few years now ,
you may wanna check the session drum line or perhaps the exports or , even, the decade maple

I'm looking at the 2011 catalogue.

The actual blend isn't in there. But I do believe it is public knowledge. It may have even been shared on the forum.

This catalogue has #49 Polished Chrome.

I thought that, too, but you can special order them through drumsonsale.com, as well as MusiciansFriend and GuitarCenter. I think they're made to order. The only down side is the wait is 4-6 months. The cost isn't bad at all through drumsonsale.com. I considered the Decade Maple, but I want 18x24 bass drums, and the Decades are 14x24. Also, I really want a chrome finish, and Visions are the only line other than the Exports that offer them.

I tried a google image search for the Mirror vs. Polished Chrome, and couldn't really tell. They both looked the same to me. No worries on the bass drum.

Also found the 2012/2013 on Pearl's website, so have screen shotted the pages.
VB was offered in Polished chrome, not mirror.

Both GuitarCenter and MusiciansFriend says birch and basswood, so I'm guessing maybe that's what they're made of now.

hey, if you can special order visions , l d like to know ...but as far as can remember you cant( ...or the stockpile is limited) i know you cant order session (sbx/smx) anymore ....if you can still order them , id get me visions birch 8x7

Actually last I heard you can get SMX but not SBX

VB has always been a blend as far as I can tell. It's the cost effective version of the Vision line.

As for the confusion about #49; you would just have to view other catalogues to check. Though I doubt one single line of drums was made in two differently named similar chrome finishes.
