different strokes for different folks i guess.
for me i have been fortunate. i purchased my VMX and everything else all at once. mind u its on a payment plan at L&M.
personally i have not played the gretsch drums at all. i would like to...but its kinda useless now that i do have a VMX kit. i cant turn back on the vmx. i have sunk lots of money into the kit to not turn to another kit, well at least not for awhile yet.
my vmx's sound great, properly tuned. which i am always always doing each day to find that fine sound that i love. *its not the drums themselves, rather than i'm just really really picky bout how my drums sound*
once i got my kit i upgraded onto the optimounts and wow what a difference.
vmx's are great and they are totally worth the money. and possibly worth even more than ever once u put on 2.3mm hoops. but thats another day for me.
if u can afford the vmx's go with them...especially the vintage red wine color....its such a beautiful finish.
