Thank you to all who joined us on the Pearl Drummers Forum but we have decided to continue the conversation at the Pearl Drummers Group on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/pearldrummersgroup Although the Pearl Drummers Forum is closed, the content is still searchable as there are many informative threads on Pearl gear. We hope to see you at the Pearl Drummers Group!
Hi John,
Welcome to the PDF, and the Vintage section in particular
Can you put up some pics please, including the badge.
That will help us with any advice, as the M-514D, if that's what it is, had an extended Gladstone strainer, which is approaching nearly impossible to get snare wires for now

Managed to upload images now, they're in a separate post.
The badge puts the drum between 1980 and 1983.
It looks like a steel shell, which is a shame because some models were brass. See if a magnet sticks to it, just in case I'm wrong.
I think you're right with the model number, which had a Gladstone standard strainer, designated S-015.
These were still available according to the 2017 Spare parts catalogue, but the throw off arm is prone to breaking about half way down.
So send an e-mail to Pearl asking availability, then (because I don't know where you live) order via your local Pearl dealership, if you're interested in going that way.
I stripped a very similar drum to yours for its parts to build a snare with a thick birch shell.
Rather than go with an extended Gladstone strainer (even though they are great) I elected to get a then newly released SR-017 strainer and butt plate.
it's been faultless, is very simple, and, perhaps best of all, any standard 14" snare wires will fit it...
Unfortunately, that will require new holes for the butt end. Half of your original butt end is missing.
