That’s that term, huh? Thanks. Mapex appeared to be a stencil kit of TAMA.

Prior to Pearl coming to the states in the early 60's they sold complete kits without their badge to American companies to badge. My kit is the Thunderking kit that Pearl offered in 69 with the Tempro Pro badge. Stencil kits, I believe, are "cloned" kits. I can't remember the man's name that first did this but his first kit had a "Mandy" badge on it for his granddaughter. I'll try to find the link.

There are still a lot of Chinese companies that do that with almost any product you can imagine. You go over to the factory, look through everything, get exclusive rights to that model, possibly give them parts to go with it and you’re off.

I'm not debating that there are "stencil" sets out there I'm pointing out that this one is made by Pearl all the way. Hell, I even have a stencil set in my inventory.
Look at the pictures of my set and the Thunderking picture and you'll see why I came to this conclusion. I'll find the post I read a long time ago and post it here.

          Thanks for all the replies.
