Keep in mind: this town is 75000 people. Larger cities are 6 hours + away. The drum kits all have 26” bass drums, 18/20” floor toms. I believe the white drums have lugs.

The "vintage Luddy" enthusiasts are out there but it may take a while to flip any of these kits.

I guess, if you have the space to store them and the time to deal with reselling them, go for it. As for me, I wouldn't pay nearly that much for those kits and wouldn't want to deal with trying to resell all that stuff. I'd hold off and if they are still listed 30 days from now, offer $1k at most.

I would say no. Those concert tom kits can be a tough sell. $3K is pretty steep to try and make up. My 2 cents.

Thanks guys: I agree. I offered $1500 and he said no way. I talked to another buyer who had offered 3200$ but had to back out. Once I get paid again I'll reach out. I figure I can sell the shells for around $500 a shell pack and the hardware separately. But I agree; it won't be a quick sell.

I wouldn’t deal with that unless you’re paying no more than $1500. You’ll lose money at $3k, concert toms are a hard sell and sizes that big are a hard sell too. I’d stay away unless you’re getting a good *** deal.

I will say he truly believes it’s worth that much whether we think so or not. Lowballing him will only make him not want to deal with you. If he really wants it out of there, he’ll lower the price on its own. If not, he’ll wait until someone gives him what he truly believes they are worth.

There is wisdom in these words. We all know how badly the economy sucks right now, and its worse up here in western Canada right now (where this seller lives). If this guy is truly motivated to sell these and thinks they are worth what he is asking, he's going to have to try Reverb, eBay, etc in hopes of attracting international buyers. Because locally he's really going to struggle getting this kind of cash for something like that. He will need to find that out on his own.

Good words - he wasn't thrilled with my offer. based on his photos and ad (pictures of everything, wants to sell locally as a lot) I don't suspect he's looking to ebay anything. I have some big bills coming up and once those are paid off I'll reach out again. He posted them individually several months ago ($900 for a shell pack, $400 snares, $150 for a cymbal stand, etc.) and it looks like he hasn't sold anything. I'm going to reach out again in another month or two.

                      Hey @Healthie,

I just noticed that you're into Pearl Fibreglass drums. Since you are also into Kijiji, have you seen this ad?:

(edit: I removed the ad to comply with the forum rules. To find the ad - search on kijiji.ca in Calgary, Alberta for Pearl Fiberglass drum shells)

I met this guy about a month ago when he had a whole pile of drum stuff up for sale and sold me some brand-new Remo Emperor heads. We struck up a conversation about drums and gear and it turns out he is a bit of a drum gear nut like me. He mentioned these old shells he had sitting around and that he would like to unload them and I told him to go for it . I know there are lots of guys out there who are really into the Pearl FIberglass shells; they just aren't my cup of tea. This guy is the nicest guy you'll meet and I kinda think he might be struggling financially because I've seen him selling lots of really great stuff for very low prices.

Hey @1ordinary-guy - I had a look. I'm past picking up kit's in rough shape days - I did a lot of rewraps when I was a teenager. Good project for a keener though!
