Not many places in Australia sell wrap.
Here's a place in Perth, and they only sell glitter wrap through their Aussie store (others can be bought via their Japan store):

For Derusting Tension Rods
Pour a bowl of Coke Cola an soak Tension Rods least 24 hr then wipe off with steel wool

Remember to re-oil the tension rods with machine oil after removing the Cola

Whoops forgot to add that important piece of advice thanks for catching my error.

Take the wrap off, use Aqua Coat to smooth out any imperfections in the surface of the bare wood and custom paint/lacquer it. Clean that hardware with a good chrome polish.
