My buddy got this beast home for me. Failed (aka passed) the magnet test - COB Jupiter snare confirmed.

I knew it was .. 70's Pearl COBs have 3 ribs .. the Chrome over Steel version has 2 ribs .. that's the easiest way to tell if a 70's Pearl is Brass or Steel .. plus the magnet doesn't hurt

Bought one of these. I love insane cymbals. I have this idea in my head to get two gnarly crashable rides, a good pair of hats and cut myself the hell off. No other cymbals allowed.

Picked out the lightest one there was, 21" and hardly 2400g, the thing sounded unreal.

Oh man. No room to get them set up for another few days, but just checking the sound with the old pinstripes has me excited. These things put out some volume.

Oh, the snare is in wowzer condition. No signs of pitting whatsoever. Has the regular throw off, so not a Jupiter but still awesome - TBH I read those parallel throws can be a hassle.

I'm blown away how many people quit playing and/or sell their gear when they leave for college. College is where you start bands.

Noooot for me, I went "non-traditional" aka I had a life in the real world between high school and college. Moving to a town of 20K people, living in an apartment, is not my idea of how to start a band.

Need to get a RIMS or ISS to get the 14 mounted, the hardware trick I came up with only works up to a certain depth of drum. I figure 8, 10, 14, 16ft on the left when it's all done. For now the 8, 10, 16 is killing it just fine, even with the crappy old heads this thing sounds fabulous. Very powerful.
