Couldn't someone have ordered it that way? It seems unlikely to me that someone assembled it from parts, unless someone just had a bunch of shells and lugs sitting around. It is good snare though. Thanks for all of the responses.

I'll bet that snare is fantastic. One day I will own a genuine article Supraphonic - lugs are lugs - the chromed Ludalloy shell is where it's at.

It's possible, but unlikely. This is not the first Supraphonic I've seen modified with bowtie lugs, and it will surely not be the last.
