  • Been busy hoarding

    Will post pics soon
This week I got a old Yamaha shell pack 70s 120 bux
Tama royal star with stands 150 bux
And today hauled a pearl export 8 pc kit with 8 sabian cymbals, 8 stands, tama lever glide high hat, dw double pedal, throne, and cowbell out of a crack house in surrey 500 bux all in..... I'm little upset cause I just bought a lever glide last month for a 180 ..... Wasn't to stoked about the place I had to pick it up either.
Oh and I also picked up a ayotte 8 ply maple snare... The kind with the claw hooks from the ray era, ten off setted lugs, 4" by 14"I actually had pay a pretty penny for that cause this guy new what it was worth. All in all I need a bigger place gear coming out my ear
    got G.A.S. ?

    WE NEED PICS, MAN!
    That Ayotte sounds SWEEEEET!
I hate meeting at skeevy places to buy drums. One time it was at the end of a narrow alley fenced in at a storage unit. Had to back out to leave. Told my GF to stay in the car and lock the doors!
I have a 4 bedroom house about 1700 square feet for all my drums. Plus a hidden space at work that I use!

      heres the ayotte
this thing sounds awesome........ think i have a new fav main! gotta clean er up a bit still. lil bit of history on this thing, it was built specifically for a show kit featured in a 80's vancouver jazz fest when ayotte was still relatively unknown.

Those old Canadian Zildjians are awesome! I've got a ride and set of hats from then and they sound incredible.

I always thought those Lugs on the Ayottes were a very clever design. Is that Pearl kit a BLX?

I don't think that's a BLX. Looks like only 8 lugs on the bass drum(s). Unless they are 20", they should have 10 lugs. Export, probably.

the pearls are in super good shape, unfortunately the shell wrap is super yellowed.... anybody know how to bring back the white? the previous owner must have been a heavy smoker.... these things stunk! i treated the insides to a wipe down with tung oil and waxed up the edges so the stink is almost gone.... really contemplating a rewrap..... could be very good practice...... on the other hand i inquired to a aquantence about trading straight across for a vintage slingy kit in yellow tiger pearl keeping my fingers crossed......!
been having to much fun with the ayotte to even wipe it down yet

If you haven't done a full contact cement re-wrap before, I suggest building yourself a snare from a cut down tom as a first project before tackling a kit. It will be really cheap, like $20-$40 for the piece of wrap, and will teach you the fundamentals of blending the wrap to the shell without the awkwardness of a large floor tom or kick.
