  • drum re-wrap thread.

Sorry if there was already a re-wrap thread started..... I could not find one. It might be helpful to have a thread with a base of ideas and opinions related to re-covering drums. tools, material, products, successes , fails, price points, helpful tips and of coarse some pics of proud owners accomplishments . before and afters photos would be awesome.!
I haven't completed a re-wrap yet, but hopefully after some helpful pointers, I will be armed with the tools, materials, and knowledge body to do a half decent job.
    thanks
    got G.A.S. ?

What are you planning to re wrap?

If you have a look at the restoring (vintage) drums thread in my sig, there's heaps of info there...

I have an old Pearl fiberglass kit that I'm in the process of rewrapping. Life got in the way in the most literal sense but I just have to take care of a few things before I can get to finishing up. I've got the material already, and for under $50! I stole the idea from barjack and you can see what I'm talking about, and a link to barjack's original thread, in my sig.
A sparkle, pearl, or glass glitter wrap will run $150-250+ for a 5 piece kit so you really have to love a kit to justify the expense. Not many circumstances where the investment or rewrapping will pay off when you sell the kit.

thanks for the link. My first project will be a old four piece yamaha kit. I think your thread will come in very helpful in the future as have a couple other kits that need some attention. not looking to do this for money I just like to tinker and collect stuff. I think i may have found a cool new hobby

thanks for the link, so there is another option. I personally like the union jack drum wrap. the price points on these look ok. however shipping to canada really sucks and jacks up the cost. still thinking i wanna go with a glitter or sparkle.

What is that? Like a 14x8? I think that it would look gorgeous with a sliver sparkle.

                              Barjack,
I've nosed through a lot of your threads. Awsome work and thanks for sharing your photos!
I think I should rename the thread barjacks rewrap thread.
